Electron Microscopy School 2021
Romanian Electron Microscopy Society, in collaboration with National Institute of Materials Physics (NIMP), "Victor Babes" National Institute for Pathology and Biomedical Sciences (IVB), University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest - National Center of Micro and Nanomaterials (UPB-CNMN) and Institute of Biology - Bucharest of Romanian Academy (IBB), is organizing the first edition of Electron Microscopy School. It will take place between October 18-20 2021. The School is addressing both students and researchers who wish to initiate in the secrets of electron microscopy with applications in the field of life sciences and / or materials science. Theoretical courses will contain informations regarding:
- Preparation techniques of TEM/SEM samples;
- Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM);
- Transmission Electron MIcroscopy (TEM);
- Electron Diffraction;
- Transmission Electron Microscopy with diffraction contrast;
- High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) – image acquisition and processing;
- Electron tomography;
- Analytical methods in electron microscopy (EDS, EELS).
Due to the current restrictions related to the prevention of SARS-COV-2 virus spreading, the School will take place in hybrid format (physical presence or online depending of the preferences of each student).
Theoretical notions will be demonstrated practically on microscopes installed in host institutions (manufactured by Thermo Fisher (FEI), Tescan or JEOL).
